Newsletter April 15th 2015

This conference gathering this weekend will be pivotal as we continue to define the release of the “double edged sword” in the state of Michigan. One edge of that sword is prayer and the other edge are action steps we can take.

You will walk out in this gathering with materials that will enable you to be a true house of refuge as we tackle physical and spiritual applications where you can engage your sphere of influence. We must be prepared. The prayer sessions with Dean Briggs and Pastor Ed Watts on Saturday will be a contending time as we address religious freedom; the supreme court ruling on traditional marriage; Israel and Iran; and issues dealing with the future of our nation.
NOTE: See the Supreme Court update below!

SUPREME COURT – TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE UPDATE

Religious freedom is at stake in our nation where our children and grandchildren’s future will be altered if this ruling does not go in our favor regarding traditional marriage. On the surface it does not look good. But we serve a God of “suddenlies”  – if we apply ourselves in prayer and action.
On April 28, the U.S. Supreme court will spend two and one half hours hearing oral arguments over four cases from four states. The Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, and Tennessee cases were all originally argued before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. The Sixth Circuit ruled that states had a rational reason and constitutional right to define marriage as between one man and one woman and to ban homosexual marriage. This decision ran counter to all of the other Circuit courts that have ruled to date. The High Court consolidated the states’ cases and will hear their arguments, consider the overwhelming number of Amicus briefs from both sides, and issue a ruling – most likely on June 30, 2015.

Both sides will argue and the Court will decide: 1) Does the Fourteenth Amendment require a state to license a marriage between two people of the same sex? 2) Does the Fourteenth Amendment require a state to recognize a marriage between two people of the same sex when their marriage was lawfully licensed and performed out-of-state?

Pray for the Attorneys – Pray for our two attorneys who have been chosen from among the four states’ attorneys to represent them in defending the constitutionality of their states’ marriage laws: John J. Bursch, former Michigan Solicitor General, will argue Question 1, and Joseph L. Whalen, Associate Solicitor General for Tennessee, will argue Question 2.

We must pray for the attorneys arguing for same-sex marriage: Mary L. Bonauto and Doug Hallward-Driemeier. Mary Bonauto is a longtime gay rights activist advocates, will argue that the 14th amendment requires a state to license marriages between two people of the same sex; Doug Hallward-Driemeir, who has led many high level appeals, will argue that the 14th amendment requires states to recognize marriages between two people of the same sex with their marriage was lawfully licensed and performed elsewhere.

BILLBOARD CAMPAIGN FOR TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE

BORN_BILLBOARD_indoors_v4b (1)

Mark Gurley who is a state coordinator for the Oak initiative in Michigan came up with this idea to place billboards across the state. Of course, we need finances to be able to place them around Michigan as the Supreme Court will be deciding the fate of traditional marriage in our nation. The LGBT community is already protected by law regarding civil rights. This Billboard will be very thought-provoking and it is well done as we need to get our message across. We wanted to give you a look at the Billboard. Transformation Michigan will be receiving tax-deductible donations to make this happen. This is an action plan that we all can participate in. Would you be willing to donate towards this effort??? E-mail me at rw247365@gmail.com and you will be given instructions.

ACTION PLAN – RESTRAIN THE JUDGES

We must bombard the US Supreme Court and our Congress with letters on how we stand for traditional marriage to be maintained in our culture. This campaign has been going on and for very little cost you can be part. I would not ask you to do something I have not done myself. Go to this website and see the instructions where hundreds of thousands of letters will be mailed to Supreme Court justices and our Congressman. This is another way where you can be part where small things can make a big difference.www.restrainthejudges.com
