Why Should Evangelical Christians Support Israel?Because God does! God stands with Israel, blessing those who bless Israel and cursing those who curse her (Genesis 12:3). If Evangelicals abandon Israel, God will abandon Evangelicals. Not only does abandoning Israel have dire spiritual implications, but has proven to have dire political consequences.During the Golden Age of Spain, Jews held high positions in government and were allowed a degree of religious freedom.
When Spain expelled Jews in 1492, the Catholic country precipitously declined. So as well today for the Arab world which expelled all Jews with the birth of Israel as a nation. They fail to recognize the Jewish state today. It is not coincidental that today, the Arab region is the most benighted in the world. Conversely, nations who bless Israel thrive. The greatest example is America who has given Jews unlimited freedom to worship. In turn, America has been infinitely blessed. God has blessed America because America has blessed Israel.
Gratitude alone is reason enough for Evangelicals to support Israel. For millennia, the Jewish people have zealously protected, defended, and preserved Biblical ideals. Faithful of all religions benefit from the sacrifices Jews have made throughout history, to protect religious freedom. In the Middle East today, only Israel protects Christians and Christian holy sites. Christians ought to support Israel because Israel supports Christians.
What Will Happen if America Abandons Israel?
Israel shares American values, Judeo-Christian roots, and a common defense of democracy. If America abandons Israel, America will have compromised its moral essence, weakened our greatest ally, and left Islamic terrorism freer reign to murder innocents.
Abandoning Israel means abandoning life, liberty, and God’s blessing.
America and Israel are shining pillars of democracy in an increasingly darkened world. America and Israel must stand united if freedom is to survive.
