TONIGHT’S CALL – MARK GURLEY…AMBASSADORS IN CHRIST – PART 1

We must never take lightly our purpose in life as believers in Jesus Christ. I truly believe we will be called into account before the judgment seat of Christ on how we dealt with the God-given sphere of influence we have been given. We are adopted sons and daughters who must never underestimate our influence in our culture. We have been blessed with unique gifts of the Holy Spirit to equip us to do the work of the CROSS. The Word calls us ambassadors for Christ. What is an ambassador?

AMBASSADOR: An official envoy especially a diplomatic agent of the highest rank accredited to a foreign government or sovereign as the resident representative of his or her own government or sovereign or appointed for a special and often temporary diplomatic assignment.

What are the duties of a secular ambassador? The primary duties of ambassadors are to maintain diplomatic relations with the receiving state and promote foreign policy strategies through international organizations. Ambassadors are diplomats of the highest rank, formally representing their head of state, with plenipotentiary powers. They carry full authority to represent the government they are part of.

What are the duties of a spiritual ambassador? We carry the keys to the kingdom and literally represent God and his government. We are called to fellowship and develop a relationship with our Lord; be fruitful and multiply spiritually and physically; and take Dominion over the land. We must work and cultivate our garden which is our sphere of influence so we can be those laborers to go into the harvest field and be representatives of God’s kingdom.

Have you ever thought of yourself as a dignitary? The word of God calls us kings and priests. Kings carry great authority to move and shake circumstances around us. As priests, we can stand in the gap and come before the Lord on behalf of those who are not saved. What an honor it is to be called as ambassadors for Christ as well.

“Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.” (2 Corinthians 5:20)

“And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (Revelation 1: 5-6)
