TONIGHT’S CALL – MARK GURLEY/RICK WARZYWAK AND OTHER GUESTS…MI GOVERNOR RACE!!!

The Word declares in Isaiah the government will be upon His shoulder. The Hebrew word shakem translated “shoulder” in Isaiah, Chap. 9, means the neck area between the shoulders where burdens are placed. So true, divine government is borne by and rests upon the foundation or shoulder of Christ, rather than upon the personalities of human beings. Our appeals to heaven must be made to bring forth righteous rulers to expedite truth, the rule of law, fairness, compassion, integrity, and moral sanity.

What is God’s purpose in civil government? Their authority is granted by God for the purpose of executing judgment upon the wicked. The “authority” is held by the civil government, which is responsible for maintaining order in society and protecting people so that they can live peacefully without having to avenge themselves. The Bible clearly recognizes authority. Authority, obedience, and government are all terms that can be translated from Biblical text. Authority is both the power and the right to enforce laws and commands, or to judge.

When we involve ourselves in elections, we “speak out for those who cannot speak and defend the rights of the poor and needy”. It is our responsibility to pray for candidates in elections who will not misuse authority. We must prayerfully select capable men from all the people…men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain…and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens. We need good leaders!

What are qualities of a good leader?

*Must have Integrity and Moral Accountability; the Ability to delegate; Able to Communicate; Must have Self-awareness; Show Gratitude and Thankfulness; Possess Learning Agility and have Listening Ears; be able to Draw a Sphere of Influence; be Confident and Positive; and have Empathy and Compassion.
Is the Tri-Unity of God a prototype for good Human Government?
The Father is the leader or “policy maker” and He appointed two other Persons (The Son and the Holy Spirit) to carry out other specific functions. The Son follows the leadership of the Father, and the Holy Spirit follows the leadership of the Son. Our submission to God puts us in a position as adopted sons and daughters to carry out His plans. We have entered a volatile election season. We must be always ready to carry out our specific function God has called us to!

“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)

“Open your mouth for the speechless, in the cause of all who are appointed to die. Open your mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.” (Proverbs 31: 8-9)

“Therefore, I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,” (1 Timothy 2: 1-3)
