Tonight’s Call – COREY SHANKLETON PROP 2/3 UPDATE…LAWSUIT/ACTION STEPS!

Divine intervention is manifesting in the current crisis we are in. Never lose faith as this past election can be called a “Mid Turning”. We are being tested to stay the course and hold the line. Understanding the names of God and who He is is critical at this juncture. As discussed below, we serve a jealous God. We must ask ourselves are we trusting in man solutions or God’s? Is our reliability on what has manifested in our nation a test to trust man or God? We must not allow our hearts to be divided. Make no room for despair, discouragement, or a lack of faith in what God will accomplish in our nation.

We will see a recovery of all as shown in the story of David and Ziklag. Some have wept as David did when he saw all that was his was taken and a city destroyed (1 Samuel 30). How many times throughout history has there been complete destruction because of wars, hurricanes, tornadoes, or other climatic events? There is a resilience where rebuilding has always taken place. We will see that again as we remove the leaven of corruption from our political systems in our nation. The enemy is still throwing bombs at us, but our shelter is a God who is zealous and jealous for our attention.

Who wants to be thought of as jealous? This unflattering description brings to mind the petty schoolgirl who bitterly resents the spotlight that a peer is enjoying, or the fact that her rival’s boyfriend is cuter than hers. To be jealous is to be vain, selfish, suspicious. It is to want what others have, never fully acknowledging or appreciating the good things in one’s own life.

And yet, there is another kind of jealousy – a holy version. It’s this noble form of jealousy that God has for his people, according to the Bible. But why is this a fitting jealousy? Why is God’s right to want us exclusively for himself? Because he made us, and in Christ he purchased us (1 Corinthians 6:20; 7:23). Divine jealousy isn’t motivated by greed or selfishness. God’s holy jealousy is rooted in the desire to protect, provide, and bless. He always and only wants what is best for his chosen ones. And what can be better than his perfect love? Instead of imagining the negative and hurtful jealousy displayed by a petty schoolgirl, we need to imagine the protecting and providing jealousy of God. Picture God more as a loving father who discovers his homeless son sleeping in a filthy gutter. Imagine how this father might jealously seek to rescue his son. The father’s goal is to restore his son’s life, not to further punish them.

When God freed the Hebrew people from slavery in Egypt, he took them to Mount Sinai. At the foot of the mountain, God told them they would soon be surrounded by neighbors who were devoted to other gods. He warned them they would be tempted to turn away and be unfaithful. Lastly, He assured them He would not stand idly by and allow that to happen. As a jealous God, he would fight fervently for their attention and affection. When God calls himself jealous, it is a reminder to us that our worship cannot be divided. The Great Commandment is to love God with all of our hearts and not part of our hearts. He alone is worthy of our devotion. He alone is deserving of our hearts. He knows that the ones He loves will find life, ultimate meaning, purpose, and joy everywhere else. He knows that He alone always seeks the best for us. He also knows that He alone is the one place where hearts will find their true home.

Therefore when Jesus came, He reminded us that we cannot serve two masters (Matthew 6:24). He told us that whoever is not for God is against them (Luke 11:23). It is tempting to be “sort of”, sometimes, or “mostly” devoted to God. But we either give ourselves to Him or we give ourselves to other lovers. God is jealous of our love because He is zealous for us to know him.

QUESTION: What are the rivals for God in your heart and life?

“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and Mammon.” (Matthew 6:24)

“He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters.” (Luke 11:23)

TIME TO PRAY IMPRECATORY PRAYERS???

IMPRECATORY PRAYER: To invoke evil upon and curse. It is to invoke judgment, calamity, or curses upon one’s enemies or those perceived as the enemies of God.

The imprecations in the Psalms should be understood considering Christ, and the New Testament. It interprets some of the imprecations of David as descriptions of the life of Christ or as prayers of Christ. Therefore, from the New Testament perspective, the psalmist enemies in imprecatory Psalms are Christ’s enemies. We can use the imprecatory Psalms as models to pray against those things that hinder the advancement of God’s kingdom in this world, such as our own sins over people who work actively to promote the harm towards God’s people or even harm towards his common grace.

Yes, we must keep in mind to pray for our enemies and those who despitefully use us. This is the most profound form of love because it requires you to truly desire that something good happens to them. Prayer for them, on the other hand, is interceding with God on their behalf. A sample prayer is “God, please fill my enemies with your grace and love. Help them to know who you are and to accept your gift of salvation.”
