MOTIVE AND INTENTS OF THE HEART
We will stand before the Lord someday at the judgment seat. We will give an account for what we did with our time, talents, and resources. The Bible clearly says it was appointed for once man to die than the judgment. We must carefully understand what the motives and intentions of the heart truly are. None of us want to be found wanting. The Lord will judge the hearts of men and women! Why are we doing what we are doing daily? We must examine ourselves because it is so easy to be self-deceived.
HEART: This word in the New Testament has five meanings: the ability to choose; the ability to know what to choose; the seat of our affections and desires; our purpose in life; and finally, the literal physical heart in our human body.
MOTIVE: That which incites action; that which determines the choice or moves the will.
INTENT: The stretching of the mind towards an object; design or purpose; ultimate end or aim.
CONDUCT: General behavior, course of action, act, or process of carrying on.
God looks at the heart and not the outward appearance! Holiness and moral character can only be determined by observing the motive of or intention of the heart. Actions rarely give us a true picture! We cannot judge by how people look as God can only see the inner workings of a man’s heart. We again must ask ourselves:
Why are we living? Why do we do what we do? What is the purpose of our existence on earth? Why are we occupying space on this planet? We must ask ourselves if our lives are truly surrendered. We are either living to serve ourselves or God and others. Serving ourselves is selfishness. Serving God and others is love.
“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23-24)
“But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)
“As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the LORD searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.” (1 Chronicles 28:9)

POINT TO PONDER: Do you feel it? Have you ever had a feeling that history is at a crossroads? We are experiencing a present day shaking in the world. There is something that is crying out in many saying what can we do? What must I personally do? How can we bring Godly change? People are being stirred across America hearing these same questions. Amidst the adversity and pessimism there is a radical remnant that is being called. We are being awakened to the fact that God wants to use us. He is calling out modern day circuit riders sounding the alarm saying all is not lost. You are a circuit rider! We can turn America around and be a righteous nation. This is no time to be apathetic or slumber. A sleeping church is awakening as the importance of prayer is coming to the forefront. Individuals are being prompted by the Holy Spirit to proactively engage the culture. There is excitement in the air. Vision and purpose is being released. God is handing out assignments to each of us and people are listening to that still small voice that is thundering across our land. The pieces of a puzzle are on the table and falling into place. We are the pieces of God’s plan so allow Him to position us. Let him connect the dots and network His people. The body of Christ is coming together as one and God’s house will be a united house of prayer. This revelation from the throne of God is being discovered again. The Lamb who became the Lion is on the move. The prayer closet is being pursued by those who are yearning for more of God. It is only prayer that will build relationships and release the favor of God.
