Tonight’s Call – RUN TO THE BATTLE!
Throughout the Old Testament, we can see God’s heart for His people shine through. From the first few chapters of Genesis, we see his desire to deliver his people. He put in motion a plan to redeem mankind from choosing their own way instead of His. God’s heart for us is one of deliverance. He fights for us, but what does that mean? How can we rest knowing that the fight is God’s battle and not our own? The battle is not ours to fight because God wants to reveal his holiness, love, and power in our lives. We tend to trust what we can see more than what we can’t. Oftentimes, the battle that rages around us is a spiritual one. But a heart that’s submitted to the Lord in humble dependence and faithful obedience sees the victory.
As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. 1 Samuel 17:48
As leaders, many times we need to run toward the battle full of courage and faith. Run toward conflict and seek a “win, win” solution. Run toward fear and flush out the lies with truth. Run toward an enemy and engage him in the power of the Holy Spirit fueled by prayer and love. Run toward an opportunity and seize the moment in anticipation of God’s favor. Run toward righteousness and away from sin. Run toward the battle away from procrastination and excuses.

David, with laser beam focus, came to this strategic moment ready to fight. Warriors on this day were nowhere to be found, like a snowflake on a hot summer day, absent. David saw Goliath too big to miss—he smelled victory, as the giant’s stench swirled about with overconfidence. The future king trusted his experience in open air confrontations with the elements and engagements with wild animals; he had perfect preparation to slay one beastly man. David ran toward conflict! He was his own man, refusing Saul’s armor—but David was God’s man called to boldly lead.
“The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine” (1 Samuel 17:37).
What issue or person are you facing that God is calling you to confront in an aggressive manner? Not a zeal without knowledge or flailing away out of anger, but a measured, prayerful approach without apology. You have done your homework. You have prepared your heart and mind and now you must engage in a spirit of humble boldness. Maybe you have failed in the past, but this is different, you are a different person and this is a different situation. Run ahead trusting in God.
As you move toward the battle you can rest in the belief that the battle is the Lord’s. You can be confident since Christ has called you to this moment for action. On the outside this conflict may look like “flesh and blood”, but spiritual forces rage for control of men’s souls. The devil trembles at followers of Jesus who do not flinch, but by faith move forward, even when the stakes are high and the resistance is strong. The pain of advancement will be less than the agony of retreat. Run toward the battle and you will feel God’s pleasure, you are more than conquerors.
“All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands” (1 Samuel 17:47).
“Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the LORD says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” (2 Chronicles 20:15)

SB 474 & HB 4950—remove abortion clinic licensing and reporting requirements; including requirements for hand washing, sterile equipment storage, and requirements for physicians and registered nurses to be onsite.
SB 476—Repeals informed consent for patients seeking an abortion and repeals the 24-hour waiting period
SB 475, SB 476 & HB 4951, HB 4952, HB 4953, HB4954, & HB 4958—repeal the laws protecting children born alive during botched abortions AND repeal common sense health and safety standards protecting the mother;
SB 477 & HB 4957—revise the “Pregnant and Parenting Student Act” to allow campus parenting services to provide abortion referrals instead of parental resources;
SB 478, SB 479 & HB 4958, HB 4959 — allows taxpayer dollars to fund elective abortions while disregarding the sacred conscience of citizens whose religious convictions teach that the destruction of innocent human life is wrong;
HB 4955 —repeals the law requiring humane disposal of fetal remains, thereby exposing sanitation workers to unsanitary blood and body parts and devaluing human life;
HB 4949 — codifies the language of Proposal 3 of 2022 into law, allowing for the implementation of abortions through birth, including infanticide and partial birth abortion. This bill also repeals the “Insurance Opt Out”, allowing abortion to become part of standard insurance coverage and purports that “Every individual has a fundamental right to reproductive freedom,” without regard for age, parental consent, or other factors.
