Tonight’s Call – The Word of our Testimony!
SHARING THE WORD OF YOUR TESTIMONY!
Your testimony is your personal history of who you were at one time; and what you have become – because of the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. His-Story [God] is what has transformed our lives. What an awesome privilege God has made available to us to save souls for eternity! Your words and actions are like seeds and water going out to the lost hearts of the world. God will give the increase if we do our part and work together within the gifts the Holy Spirit has put within you.
“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; 16 having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed. 17 For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.” (1 Peter 3:15-17)
“Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven ,”Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” (Rev 12:10-11)
TESTIMONY: It a profession; declaration and affirmation of who you are and why you believe the way you do and what brought you to this place you are today. It is an open attestation and witness using your life as evidence and fact of how God has changed your nature and character through salvation in Jesus Christ. You are giving an affirmation of what you are solely living for as you live on this earth.
WHAT IS THE GOSPEL THAT I AM TO SHARE IN MY TESTIMONY?
The Gospel is clearly defined in the scripture passage below. We must explain and not use words the world may not understand. Jesus came, died, and rose again to take away the sins of the world. This is the simplicity of the Gospel message. It is only through Christ where one can be saved because of His sacrifice for us (Acts 4:12).
“Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you — unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,” (1 Cor 15:1-4)
A TESTIMONY IS A LIFE SEED AND WATER TO THOSE WHO ARE LOST!
The words that you speak are like seeds and water that go out as you occupy and move through your areas of influence. Some will fall on good ground and some on ground that is very hard. Just plant and water while seeing eternity always ahead of you. Loving compassion and prayer will bring forth an increase by God.
“Therefore, hear the parable of the sower: When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside. But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles. Now he who received seed among the thorns ishe who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” (Matt 13:18-23)
“Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one? I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. 8 Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor..” (1 Cor 3:5-11)
“Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,” (1 Peter 1:22-23)
POINT TO PONDER – WANDA ALGER:
“And the LORD said to me, ‘Say to them, Do not go up or fight, for I am not in your midst, lest you be defeated before your enemies.'” (Deuteronomy 1:42) We know that we do not war against flesh and blood, but against spiritual adversaries in high places. We should also realize that the battles we fight are very specific, and only as the Lord directs. Though we all engage at some level in our collective war against the unseen enemy, not everyone is called to fight the same way – or in the same battle.
The truth is, not every battle is ours to fight. Given the many battles currently raging, I recently asked the Lord how He wanted me to engage. As a watchman on the wall, I see a national war playing out with ongoing conflicts and skirmishes. I also see the warfare in the Church as leaders are falling and the Body is divided. Then there are the battles closer to home regarding my community and family. How do I determine which ones the Lord has called me to? Am I to assume He wants me to “fight” in whatever battle I see, or simply choose what I deem to be a priority? Or is there something else that determines how I specifically engage in this warfare?
As I was praying on this, I pictured a battlefield in front of me. I was immediately drawn to the sword of a warrior. In Scripture, we know this represents God’s Word. It is His truth that He gives as a weapon against the enemy (Ephesians 6:17, Hebrews 4:12). His truth is a weapon of righteousness by which we demolish strongholds and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God (2 Corinthians 6:7, 10:4–5). As soon as I saw this, I heard, “The battles you engage in will be determined by the specific truths I give you about those battles. It is not the desperation of need or even your own innovative ideas that determine which battle to enter. Pay attention to what I put in your hand. Only enter the battlefield when you are wielding a sword that is hewn by My Spirit, engraved with My Words, and exhibits fresh fire from the throne. Therein lies your confidence and your victory.
SUGGESTED OUTLINE IN SHARING YOUR TESTIMONY
This spoken or written recording of your testimony can be used over and over again and given to many people that you may encounter. Many of us have known, lived near, or collaborated with people where we knew inside that we should have been a greater witness of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Yet for a number of reasons, we have not proclaimed what we know inside to do as the days pass by. The time you spend on this will be very worthwhile and you will literally be doing the work of an evangelist.
Giving them your testimony where they will feel no pressure could open up new doors of a new relationship. Your prayers for them at this time are crucial and your lifestyle will be under a more scrutinizing eye – so love them!
Sit down in a quiet place and pray that God would give you the words to write down.
Be patient and write down some highlights of your past where you had a total change. of heart. Try to recall the lost place you were in and record how the light of God’s
The Word of God brought you to a new place. Everything is a process and people want to hear your personal story or testimony – as many will relate to the place you have been and where and how you have arrived at this new place of inner freedom. Never forget that all old wounds or hurts you had suffered will be used to set others free!!!
Preparation for the Letter/CD you will make and include with the booklet.
Give name and why you decided to do this (your love for them and responsibility as a representative of God’s Kingdom). Make a sincere opening statement.
Give an account of your life and how God met your needs through His Son Jesus Christ. Some may have to write it out and then record by reading it. This is OK, but be sure it doesn’t sound like your reading off of a page.
Share how why you believe everyone needs Christ as Savior and that you making this recording was because you had been thinking about and care for them.
At the end of the letter or recording make sure to ask them if there are any prayer needs for them or for any family members. Let them know that you will take the prayer needs seriously and will be praying for them as well as yourself.
Make sure that you ask if they ever have any questions or need help that you would be willing to step forward and assist them at any time. You will never apply any pressure but want your relationship to grow.
Close by thanking them for listening. Let them know they are always welcome to talk on the phone with you or visit If there are any counseling needs you would be able to suggest help or give advice.
HOW DOES A SEED COME TO LIFE?
Dry seeds are dormant!
Soak it in Water – the protective coating that made it dormant comes off.
Importance of Soaking! – Seeds in you must fall to the ground – Be still and rest in Him – As the seeds in you fall to the ground then they will be watered and you will hear God speaking. [Take the visual seeds and throw them to ground] Word is living water and increases our faith – Romans 10:17.
POINT TO PONDER: It has been appointed for once man to die than the judgement. Will anyone that I knew say to me you knew the truth but never told me. We will all give an account. Sharing your testimony must be one of our main purposes in life. We are to cultivate our garden. As your sphere of influence receives your testimony from you must realize they may someday ask you to personally engage in a conversation regarding the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. What an opportunity.
