WHAT IF IT IS TRUE – SHROUD OF TURIN?
I thought it would be fitting before Good Friday and resurrection Sunday to cover a controversial topic. If this is true, I personally believe it possibly is. Our speaker tonight will bring forth information to be discerned as certainly would be considered evidence that the Bible is true.
The Shroud of Turin , also known as the Holy Shroud, is a length of linen cloth that bears a faint image of the front and back of a man. It has been venerated for centuries, especially by members of the Catholic Church, as the actual burial shroud used to wrap the body of Jesus of Nazareth after his crucifixion, and upon which Jesus’s bodily image is miraculously imprinted. The human image on the shroud can be discerned more clearly in a black and white photographic negative than in its natural sepia color, an effect discovered in 1898 by Secondo Pia, who produced the first photographs of the shroud. This negative image is associated with a popular Catholic devotion to the holy face of Jesus.
The documented history of the shroud dates back to 1354, when it was exhibited in the new collegiate church of Lirey, a village in north-central France. The shroud was denounced as a forgery by the Bishop of Troyes in 1389. It was acquired by the House of Savoy in 1453 and later deposited in a chapel in Chambery where it was damaged by fire in 1532. In 1578, the Savoys moved the shroud to their new capital in Turin, where it has remained ever since.[4]: 191 Since 1683, it has been kept in the Chapel of the Holy Shroud, which was designed for that purpose by architect Guarino GuGuarini and which is connected to both the royal palace and the Turin Cathedral. Ownership of the shroud passed from the House of Savoy to the Catholic Church after the death of former king Umberto II in 1983.

MICROBIOLOGY: The existence of life depends upon a substance which chemists call the universal solvent. The magnificent molecule, with its many unique properties, is ordinary water. Unlike almost all other liquids which contract upon changing from liquid to solid, water stops contracting and starts expanding at 4°C. This results in solid water (ice) being less dense (lighter) than liquid water. Thus lakes and rivers freeze from the top down instead of from the bottom up. If likes rose from the bottom up, life within every lake in a freezing climate would be destroyed.
Water also has a unique ability to conduct electricity at just the right resistance to make the processes of life possible within cells. In addition, its unique surface tension insulates some animals, while its inability to mix with body oils insulates other animals by keeping them dry. Water is the only one of the special substances that God created to enhance and enable life.
From the properties of the smallest molecule to the complex interrelated systems of life, the entire universe has every appearance of being designed to work together in perfect harmony. This is one of many ways in which creation provides a vivid testimony for the creator’s attention to the details of life.
