Tonight’s Call – RUN TO THE BATTLE WITH PROPER MOTIVE AND INTENT!
God looks at the heart and not the outward appearance!
Holiness and moral character can only be determined by observing the motive of or intention of the heart. Actions rarely give us a true picture! We cannot judge by how people look as God can only see the inner workings of a man’s heart.
Why are you living? Why do you do what you do? What is the purpose of your existence on earth? Why are you occupying space on this planet?
“The spirit [conscience] of a man is the lamp of the LORD, Searching all the inner depths of his heart.” Prov 20:27]
“Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves.” [2 Cor 13:5]
Motive/Intent of the Heart
HEART: This word in the New Testament has five meanings: the ability to choose; the ability to know what to choose; the seat of our affections and desires; our purpose in life; and finally the literal physical heart in our human body.
MOTIVE: That which incites to action; that which determines the choice, or moves the will.
INTENT: The stretching of the mind towards an object; design or purpose; ultimate end or aim.
CONDUCT: General behavior, course of action, act or process of carrying on.
“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23-24)
“But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)
“I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.” (Jeremiah 17:10-11)
“As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the LORD searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.” (1 Chronicles 28:9)
“For I know of nothing against myself, yet I am not justified by this; but He who judges me is the Lord. Therefore, judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one’s praise will come from God.” (1 Corinthians 4:4-5)
“These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.” (Matthew 15:8-9)
“Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.” (Matthew 15:17-20)
“The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? 10 I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.” (Jeremiah 17:9-10)
NOTE: We must ask ourselves if our lives are truly surrendered. These questions below will help identify if we are still living in a fallen, carnal, and fleshly nature.
1. If we look at your check book what would you be spending your money on? Are you supporting the cause of Christ? Do you feed and take care of your physical bodies? If you are a member and part of the body of Christ are you helping to maintain it?
NOTE: What you spend your money on is an indicator of a heart condition and shows motives and intents of the heart.
“He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much. 11 Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? 12 And if you have not been faithful in what is another man’s, who will give you what is your own? 13 “No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” (Luke 16:10-13)
2. How do you spend your personal time?
3. Are we using our gifts and talents to serve God and others?
4. Would a football game or other form of entertainment be an excuse to skip church, a prayer meeting, fellowship with the body of Christ, or a Bible study?
5. Do you go to work or live daily life looking how you can serve God and others and be a representative of Christ?
Motives and intents of the heart are very important to our Lord. The scriptures are very clear. We all have had improper motives at times. We serve a God of grace so when discovered ask for forgiveness and move on with what God has called you to accomplish.

GEOLOGY – Textbooks have taught for generations that the massive coal formations, which are found around the globe, have taken millions of years to form. Creation scientists have refuted this claim, citing multiple experimental evidence showing that call can be produced in much less time under high pressure and temperature conditions. It has recently been shown that under certain conditions high pressure is not even necessary. Scientists at the Argonne National laboratory took ordinary wood fragments mixed with acid activated clay and water, and heated it at 300°F for 28 days in an air freeze quartz tube. They obtained a high-grade a black coal, even without the additional pressure. This proved millions of years are not necessary to explain the formation of coal.
Sally, the standard textbook model involving millions of years and gradual formation of coal by peat swamps remains the only model presented to students. One wonders why this is the only possibility presented. Why is the possibility of a worldwide flood and rapid formation ignored? Sound scientific practice requires the consideration of all theories of coal formation, rather than teaching a single possibility as it were a fact.
