Are We a Spiritual House? Jesus said that His house (church) would be called a “House of Prayer” (Matthew 21:13). What is this house that He was referring to?
And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves'” (Matthew 21:13).
Was Jesus speaking of a church or a building? Was it a place where people would gather to pray? Or could it be referring to individuals who pray by themselves? The answer is yes to all the above questions. A church or place where people gather to pray is a house of prayer. The greater revelation is we each are individual houses of prayer that can open heaven anywhere and anytime.
“For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building” (1 Corinthians 3:9).
Individually, we are the Church as well as part of the corporate church body. So, churches can be a house of prayer as well as individuals who go into the prayer closets. It can be where two or three are gathered in Christ’s name, because He dwells in our midst (Matthew 18:20). You also have access to God’s throne by an instant, direct wireless connection – your voice. We must conclude according to the Scriptures; we are individual walking houses of prayer with spiritual authority. When these houses of prayer and/or lively stones come together corporately in prayer it is a powerful force that will impact the earth.
