TONIGHT’S CALL – COREY SHANKLETON…CROSS IMMERSION!

We must question ourselves as we awake each day what we are allowing ourselves to be immersed in. If you immerse yourself in something that you are doing, you become completely involved in it. An example of immersion is when you become completely absorbed in a book and don’t look up from reading or pay attention to anything else. Your eyes and ears are totally tuned in to a task, assignment or it can be in developing a relationship you are pursuing.

What does it mean to be immersed in the Bible? The meaning of the word baptizo in Greek is essentially “dip” or “immerse,” not sprinkle. The descriptions of baptisms in the New Testament suggest that people went down into the water to be immersed rather than having water brought to them in a container to be poured or sprinkled.Let’s take it a step further and bring this into context of what it is to immerse our minds.

As you start your day, what is the focus of that day that is ahead? Our minds can be easily captured by a family challenge, a health issue, personal struggles, news cycles that instill fear, OR THE JOY OF THE LORD! We have a free will to choose what will rule the day. We have talked about thought cycles numerous times the last few years. Those emotions that result from your thoughts can be destructive or can lead to being set free from the cares of the world. Is this easy to do? NO!!! Reigning in your thoughts can be difficult and it takes practice. So, the first thoughts we awaken with are an attempt to capture your day.

The season of time we are in requires each of us to SEEK THE LORD…DILIGENTLY! Start your day by saying the Lord’s prayer. Ask the Lord what he desires for your day today. Write these things down as a reminder. Block out competing negative thoughts and realize you have been adopted into His kingdom and given His promises. Recognize you have angels around you; we are being encouraged by multitudes in heaven; and the Lord is there to order and direct our steps. Never forget the honor it is to be part of the “Great Awakening” that is before us. We have been chosen for such a time as this!

“Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near.” (Isaiah 55:6)

“The Lord is with you while you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.” (2 Chronicles 15:2)

“O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land where there is no water.” (Psalm 63:1)

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” (Phillipians 4:8)
