Day 862 March 16 2023

Tonight’s Call – A CALL TO THE WALL!

When we look at walls in the Bible, they are also seen as structures that protect, providing security, and represent a place of shelter forming a sense of belonging. This is why we are building an eternal wall of answered prayer. In the Old Testament times the city walls represented not only the strength of the people within that city, but also the strength of the God they served. Nehemiah depicts the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem. He was distraught when he heard that the walls in Jerusalem were in disrepair, as a reflected not only the weakness of his people but also misrepresented God as weak.

“Jerusalem’s wall has been broken down, and his gates have been burned down. When I heard these things, I sat down and wept.” (Nehemiah 1:3-4)

Nehemiah saw the walls represented the strength of God. It represented back then the belief that he is alive, listening, and able to respond. Nehemiah and his team faced significant opposition yet, were able to rebuild the city walls in just 52 days. This was a miraculous feat that was a monument to God’s glory and faithfulness, as depicted in Nehemiah 6:15-16, God can and does use walls to bring Him glory, and we look to Nehemiah as inspiration on our own journey to build a wall that will glorify Jesus. In Ephesians 2:17-22 the body of Christ is described like the walls of the temple, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as a cornerstone in verse 20. We are all part of the wall that grows into a holy sanctuary in the Lord. A similar idea develops in 1 Peter 2:5-6 where believers are described as living stones being built into a spiritual house for a holy priesthood. We as a family of believers stand together as a wall; by doing so we create a sanctuary which the Lord inhabits. We are not a wall separation, exclusion, or imprisonment, but one of faith, salvation and glory.

We are building a wall of prayer and activism today where we must challenge the darkness of the times and bring the light of the Gospel. We are bringing a landmark of hope as we can catch a glimpse of the infinite DNA of the God who answers and sees the breakthroughs we have read about in the Word. Our wall will display the glory of God as we make appeals to heaven through prayer, praise, worship, declarations, and proclamations. We are being called to be watchmen on that wall at this very moment.

The faithful Watchmen will give the alarm at the approach of the enemy, will blow the trumpet in the ears of the sleeping sinner, and endeavor to awake him. Today we are making a call to the wall. We will stand for our children and grandchildren to secure the freedoms that were given to them. May we have eyes to see and ears to hear like our Lord.

“Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me: When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. The Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul. (Ezekiel 3:17-19).

“Take no rest, all you who pray to the Lord. I posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem. Day and night they keep at it, praying, calling out, reminding God to remember.” (Isaiah 62:6)

“But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things they’re going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 21:36)

NAMES OF GOD CHRISTOPHER HUDSON…EL TSURI – THE ROCK!

This verse in Deuteronomy below marks the first time God is called the Rock in Scripture. Moses uttered these words at the end of his life as he declared God’s faithfulness to the next generation of Israelites, reminding them that even when they and their ancestors had turned away and trusted other gods, the one, true God had remained unchanging in His love for them. In the Bible, two different Hebrew words are used to call God the Rock “El Sela” and “El Tsuri”. Both names or titles point to God’s unshakable character, but here’s how they differ: As my rock, God reveals himself as the personal foundation upon whom we can build our lives. In calling upon my Rock, you are saying, God is my refuge, my shelter from the storms of life. Since my God, my Rock, cannot be shaken, my position in Him cannot be shaken and my ultimate well-being can never be threatened.

But God is more than a personal God. He is also the Rock of the universe. He is the foundation of creation. Everything– from the laws of physics to the unchanging laws of morality– is unshakable because God is the permanent, changeless foundation of all reality. Hebrews 13:8 assures us that our Lord is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. His character does not change. His love does not fluctuate– neither do His standards. What was right and wrong yesterday will still be right and wrong tomorrow. Heaven doesn’t follow fads or the latest trends, God’s standards stand with rocksolid certainty and timelessness. The fact that God is the Rock should inspire a wholesome fear in us– and deep comfort. With absolute Divine stability, we know what to expect. We can be sure of His love for us and of His promise of salvation through Jesus. If He’s not already, make the Rock your Rock. Nothing will ever trial over Him. Nothing will overcome Him. Nothing can change Him. We can count on these truths. We can count on the Rock.

QUESTION: Are you trusting in the only immovable, unshakeable thing in this life–the Divine Rock?

“He is the Rock, His works are perfect, and all His ways are just. A fruitful God who does no wrong, upright and just is He.” (Deuteronomy 32:4)
