Tonight’s Call – STABILITY IN THE SHAKING…COREY SHANKLETON PT 2!
Ultimately, shaking is the removal of whatever is imperfect or sinful from both heaven and earth, not the destruction of the earth in favor of heaven. In Haggai 2 the shaking here refers to the overthrow of foreign occupiers. Do we have foreign occupiers in our land today? YES! God is shaking the world for our sake. He desires to partner with us in whatever we are called to do and wherever the mission field is…to be a voice that shakes the wilderness in the regions we are called to occupy. We are called to shake, agitate, rock, and convulse with spiritual violence which begins with prayer.
In this season of time, we are experiencing shaking because of feeling anxious. Tremors caused by anxiety are dangerous, but they can be uncomfortable. Anxiety and worry or the emotions everyone feels at some point can capture our thought cycle and remove our joy. We must be grounded in the Lord! The Word of God reminds us that we are hard-pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair. We may be persecuted but not abandoned. We may be struck down but not destroyed. Therefore, never lose heart as the Lord will order in direct our steps in any shaking.
Remember, the Almighty God shakes the world for our sake. He desires to partner with us in whatever we do in wherever we go. If you feel your faith is being shaken because of the events, we are surrounded by let the Lord carry that burden. He will not leave us in hopelessness if we make appeals for any situation that we are experiencing. He never abandons us even when we fail. We serve a God of stability, and He desires to instill that in our lives. As we move through this Holy Week it has been prophesied that shakings will increase. Do not fear or be dismayed as we must declare and decree the Word of God over our lives. We have been called for such a time as this! We are all going through some things at this time, but this is part of the spiritual warfare that God has called us to. It will be our perseverance and trust in the Lord through the troubled times we are facing that will enable us to endure.
Stay the course and hold the line!
“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for God is a consuming fire.” (Hebrews 12:28).
“My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress; I will never be shaken.” (Psalm 62:1)

When you need to clean out an underground cellar or a dark closet, what you need most is light. Aren’t you thankful for light bulbs, electricity, and flashlights? When the power goes out, aren’t you grateful for candles and matches? When you’re camping, don’t you appreciate the glow of a campfire that keeps away bears and pests? Light illuminates. It pushes back the darkness. It enables us to see what needs fixing. It shows us a way out. Because bad things often happen in the darkness, light increases our safety and gives us comfort. Here’s the good news: God calls Himself the light of Israel. This means He shines. He is glorious. He burns bright; and like a glowing fire, He gives warmth to all who are near Him. As pure light, He drives out of darkness and shows us the way home. Our divine light keeps us safe, gives relief to us and it brings us joy.
But we also must remember God’s light is directly connected to His holiness. As a brilliant light cannot coexist with other darkness, so God cannot tolerate sin. He is righteous. He is pure. He is always good. He isn’t a dimming lantern; He’s a blazing sun! Like a laser, the holy light of God burns away sin. Consequently, we each must choose whether we will submit to His light or continue to live in darkness. When Jesus came from God, He made this amazing statement: I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life (John 8:12). What a wonderful promise! When we have Jesus, incredible things happen: One, we have light — because He is the very light of God. As a result, we can say with David, The Lord is my light in my salvation — whom shall I fear? (Psalm 27:1). Two, we become light. Remember what Jesus said to His followers? You are the light of the world (Matthew 5:14). All of this begs the question: Is the light of Israel your light today? Let Him illuminate you and purify you. Let Him shine in and through you.
QUESTION: Do you view God more as a dimming lantern, a steady lighthouse, or as a consuming fire? Why do you suppose that is?
“The light of Israel will become a fire, their holy one a flame; in a single day it will burn and consume his thorns and his briars.” (Isaiah 10:17)
