The spirit of confusion, division, backbiting, accusation, deception, gossip, name calling, slandering and dishonesty MUST STOP!!! You may be asking, “How do we stop it?”
We can stop it by replacing it with the TRUTH! What is the truth? God’s word is truth!! (St. John 17:17). If we will all take the time to read and pray the word of God and focus on our Judeo Christian Values (the values that our United States Constitution was built upon), and practice and live by them, all of the confusion, division, backbiting, accusations, deception, name calling, slandering and dishonesty will begin to cease! The goal of the enemy is to keep everyone in a state of confusion and unrest in our minds so that he can ultimately destroy us all.
I want to encourage you not to join the team of our spiritual enemies. If you have joined this team, quickly remove yourself from it before destruction comes. The thief (the enemy) comes to steal, kill and destroy. (St. John 10:10). I want to also urge us to put our PETTY differences aside. Let’s focus on what UNITES us and RISE above what divides us. We must unify around the truth. If you have a concern or an issue with an individual, please go directly to them and INQUIRE of them. This will help to stop negative rumors etc. You will be totally amazed and thankful at the PEACE that you will begin to experience when you practice and live by the truth.
FROM RICK – TRANSFORMATION MI…ROOT OF BITTERNESS
Most individuals who engage in disunity are bitter from a past offense. Bitterness is like a poison concoction that stays in the blood. It saps your joy and steals away the goodness from one’s life. It paints a blue sky black and holds you in bondage. Bitterness hurts an individual more than the person who originally has hurt you. Bitterness and resentment directly relates to anger. When we let anger or frustration take over our bitterness builds up in our hearts. It most often takes root when we are hurt by others, or we think a situation we are put in is unjust or unfair. One of the most well-known stories of bitterness in the Bible is a story of Cain and Abel (Genesis 4:8). This resulted in envy and jealousy…and led to murder.
Physically speaking, bitterness releases stress hormones which affect one’s immune system and increases the chance of disease taking hold. The stress hormone is called cortisol which literally attacks the immune system. Holding grudges can also have a big impact on our social life as well. It can cause estrangement from family members, ruin friendships, or otherwise limit the number of people with whom you socialize. Bitter or offended people will also attempt to draw others to take up their offense. This causes a domino effect of disunity. So what is the solution?
One must admit that they feel bitter; acknowledge who hurt you; let go of it and forgive; change your expectations; realize there is a bigger picture at stake as we will all stand before God and give an account. The word says look on others interest ahead of your own (Philippians 2:8). This is hard to see or realize by an offended person. But the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is centered on love and forgiving our enemies, and blessing those who are cursing us. Forgiveness produces tenderness in the heart and releases compassion and mercy to those we have been offended by. Never forget bitterness is a hard and destructive road that can only be remedied by Christ.
“And knowing their thoughts Jesus said to them, any kingdom divided against itself is laid waste; and any city or house divided against itself will not stand.” (Matthew 12:25)
“Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:31-32)
“Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them.” (Romans 16:17)

When two strangers meet and exchange handshakes and names, the inevitable first question is – So, what do you do? A professional athlete might respond with, I am a linebacker for the Ravens. A businessperson might reply, I am the VP of sales for ABC Corporation. Most of us usually identify ourselves or describe our lives by the roles we play, by how we spend our days, and by the kind of work we do. Because we assume that activity equals identity, we say things like, oh, I am just a stay at home mom to five kids, or I am a junior at Lincoln high school. While such labels and self-descriptions are not technically untrue, they have very little to do with who we really are. This is because being precedes doing.
One of the awesome teachings of the Christian faith is that we are not defined by what we do. Our identity is rooted in the everlasting God who made us, not in the things we make such as careers, families, mistakes, etc. as the One who designed us, God is the One who defines us. Before and after we are anything else, we are redeemed people who are beloved creatures of God – made for Him, built for His glory. This means for the athlete; sport is not his or her life. For the mom, family is not her life. For the businessperson, a career is not his or her life. Life – real life, abundant life, eternal life – comes only from God. He names us and tells us who we are. He gives us value and purpose. Our worth and identity come from Him, not from anything we do or fail to do.
Remember today that your life is not defined by your ability in sports, devotion to your family, or its success in a career. Your identity isn’t money, possessions, achievements, or the approval of others, God created you to know, to love, to serve, and to be satisfied in Him. When you acknowledge God as your life, you start to really live!
