Day 1016 (Again) August 17 2023

Tonight’s Call – CONTINUING THROUGH THE CRUCIBLE OF FREEDOM!

We are in the battle to preserve our freedom. We must be watchmen! “Put a watchman on the city wall. Let him shout what he sees” (Isaiah 21:6). God is calling us to persevere and to transform this “final battle” into something like what Churchill hoped would one day be said of the struggling British forces during World War II: “their finest hour.” Churchill was a man of conviction dead set on preserving England from the Nazi’s. We are in our finest hour today facing a similar assault. Again, the church must speak out on behalf of truth. Past history can be our teacher. The Bible for example is the greatest history book ever printed. We must glean truths on the rise and fall of nations from it.

We are the light to the world and choose to shine. Francis of Assisi said: “All the darkness can’t extinguish the light of a single candle.” And Scripture says: “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:5).

We are in a present-day crucible. What is crucible? It is a melting pot or “fining pot”, probably made of pottery, used in the refining of silver. The crucible is used in the Bible as a figure for testing people (Proverbs 17:3; Proverbs 27:21) Are we not in a testing time today? We are being refined for God’s Kingdom purposes! We are on a journey where obstacles will occur, but the Lord is ordering and directing our steps. If you walk with the Lord long enough, you will discover that His tests often come back-to-back. Or perhaps it would be even more accurate to say back-to-back to back to back to back. Usually, His preparatory tests don’t stop with one or two. They multiply. And as soon as you climb out of one crucible thinking, “Okay, I made it through that one,” you’re plunged into another, where the flame is even hotter.

Crucibles create Christlikeness. This is precisely what the hymn writer had in mind when he wrote: The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design, Thy dross to consume and thy gold to refine. That’s what a crucible season of time does. It’s what a furnace does. It brings all the impurities to the surface so that they can be skimmed off, leaving greater purity. The refining we are going through is part of the spiritual boot camp we have been through for the past few years. We are being prepared for the greatest battle the world has ever seen. This crucible experience is a time of chastisement and correction for us to be better aligned with God’s present day kingdom purposes.

How often have we said – “Stay the course and hold the line!!!”

“And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.If] you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness. Now no [e]chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.” (Hebrews 12: 5-11)
