Forgiving What Seems Unforgivable – By Lana Kristal
A Background Lesson to be Learned!
I have friends whom we will call Woman A and Man B. Together they have a business. Man B has an illness which has caused excruciating pain. They attended a revival gathering, and when
Man B was prayed over the pain totally went away. Two weeks later I received a phone call from Woman A telling me Man B’s pain had returned with a vengeance. She explained the week before they had to dismiss nearly all of their employees. To one employee in particular, Man B had gifted thousands of dollars of technology equipment, the employee was paid a handsome salary for which he did minimal work, and upon dismissal all employees received four months’ pay. Woman A informed me they learned this employee was in a personal relationship with a witch. That employee was blasting them all over social media, clearly being influenced by the girlfriend witch. I said to Woman A, “This is above my pay grade.
Let me see if I can get Dr. Doug Carr on the phone.” There’s wisdom in a multitude of counselors. J Dr. Carr is a highly respected healing and deliverance minister here in Michigan. Dr. Carr happened to be available and during our three-way conversation I learned a lifetime lesson. He said, “When we forgive someone, including a witch, we are setting a captive free. The captives are you and me.” I’m like, “Do what? How do you forgive someone who is operating under a spirit of witchcraft?” To expound further Dr. Carr indicated, “When you forgive the witch, the tormenter no longer has the authority over you. Personal unforgiveness gives the legal right for the tormenter to torment. To not forgive is [in essence] to pray, Father, do not forgive me as I have not forgiven that witch.”
The Application – Abortion Bills in Michigan
In light of the egregious and far-reaching abortion bills and other harmful legislation passed in the Michigan House of Representatives on November 1, to be honest my first reaction was How evil of those people. But then…I reflected on the cross. One criminal was on the left of Jesus and one on the right. “Then Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do’” (Luke 23:34). Jesus knew they were criminals and yet at the time of his own excruciating crucifixion he asked his Father to forgive them. I realized we cannot fall into condemnation of those who voted yes to these horrific bills. We must develop a posture of forgiveness for those who voted for these bills. When we forgive them the tormenter will no longer have the right to torment us over this issue. If we don’t forgive them the devil has the right to torment.
“But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” (Matthew 6:15)
“Then the master called the servant in. ‘You wicked servant,’ he said, ‘I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you’ In anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed. “This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.” (Matthew 18:32-35,NIV)
Are the ramifications of these bills harmful to the unborn and to the pregnant mothers? What about all the other bills that were passed? Are they harmful to freedom loving people? Absolutely. Are the people who voted in favor of them evil? That’s not for us to decide—only God knows a person’s heart. Forgiving these people is imperative. And, this does not exempt us from engaging in spiritual warfare against every acting agent of darkness.
Biblical Action Releases Authority over Evil
I made another call to Dr. Carr on November 2. I asked Dr. Carr, “How do we continue in warfare over these abortion bills?” He said, “We pray for the Lord to remove the veils from their eyes, tear down the devils schematics making it seem the evil is good, tear down the logic system that in the long run it saves us money if we kill the unwanted kids. How heinous do you think the Hamas demonic attack on Israel of decapitating babies? We do it every day in the United States through “legalized” abortion.”
“Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold. We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away. But
their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians 3: 12-18)
In addition to praying for veils to be removed, we stand in repentance for those who voted for these bills; identification repentance and remittance of sins.
“Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to
them, ‘Peace be with you.’ When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they “saw the Lord. So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” (John 20:19-23)
Jesus showed the disciples his hands and sides wounded a result of torture by his accusers. Then he breathed the power of Holy Spirit onto them and told them to forgive. Wow! By the power of
Holy Spirit, we choose to and are to forgive. Forgiveness often goes against our flesh. By the power of the Spirit and bringing our flesh under the authority of the Spirit we are able to forgive. Forgiveness and remitting sin are the first steps in cutting off the flow of demonic power. Remitting sin helps others come out of the religious spirit of hatred condemnation. Remit is an action word. It means to cry, to forsake, to yield, to lay down, to send payment for, to equip, tore lease. To retain is also an action word meaning to be offended by—offense opens the door to the enemy to withhold. By remitting we lift the heavy load of condemnation off the people and God still deals with them.
They have to personally confess their own sins, but remittance lifts the veil so they can hear God and hear their own conscience again. Remission means smuggled in or brought in unaware. God smuggled in the mystery of reconciliation. With the enemy unaware God carried out the rescue of mankind through the atoning blood of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. On the cross Jesus asked the Father to forgive those who “…do not know what they do.” That’s what God is asking us to do with this issue in our legislature. For those who voted in favor of these abortion bills (other harmful bills), we are smuggling in (our remittance for them) and with them unaware we forgive and remit. And we ask the Lord to remit and forgive. Apart from such action on a Believer’s part, the sins are retained, leading to continuing error. Forgiveness doesn’t mean what someone did is okay. God’s wrath will be on the ungodly!
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,…” (Romans 1:18)
Forgiveness is a strategic spiritual step to cutting off the demonic powers over the governmental structures in Michigan. We are in a test to bring forth a spiritual strategy to take back the culture. A MANEUVER to be more authoritative. Forgiveness further enables us to walk in the authority of Jesus Christ. We ask the Lord to restore His creation. Restore Michigan. Breathe life on the land and we ask the Father, “Reveal yourself to the people and bring forth true repentance in this situation.” Prayer Ephesians 4 speaks of Christ ascending out of hell and taking many captives. God wants that none should perish. We release forgiveness, mercy, and grace over those with veiled hearts. Lord, those who are in darkness, those who are walking in and are in agreement with evil, those who are rejecting you and your Word, and those who have veiled hearts and minds, lead them to repentance and snatch them out of the hand of the enemy. Amen.
