Preparation is a key for the days we are in. There are two types of preparation. First and foremost, is spiritual and secondly is physical. Christians are to be a community with the mentality to help others and this begins with your family. A season of time is upon us where we must re-examine all that we will do to be prepared for the days ahead. The scriptures say take no thought for tomorrow. Does this mean that farmers do not plant seeds for a new yield? Of course not! We must look at the basics and have the provision needed to survive.

Self-sufficiency in the old days meant preparing for the coming winter. Superstores where we can get goods readily did not exist in those days. We are seeing evidence of shortages as any major crisis can cause shortfalls. Have we not seen this recently? So being prepared in the basics of life is crucial because it is uncertain what the next day may bring. Of course, spiritual preparation is the number one priority, but we must look at basic felt needs so we can be places of refuge if the times dictate it.

“Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, which, having no captain, Overseer or ruler,provides her supplies in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest.How long will you slumber, O sluggard? When will you rise from your sleep?A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep—so shall your poverty come on you like a prowler, and your need like an armed man.” (Proverbs 6: 6-11)
