What is the role of the church in hard times? We are to be a place of refuge and a sanctuary to those in need. We have the hope of eternal salvation that is carried in each and every one of us. We have the assurance that God is always with us and will provide. Faith is the key to the door! Prayer and seeking God is the most critical aspect in facing any crisis. Devotion to His Word and hearing God’s voice as He speaks to you is critical. The prayer closet is the key aspect in this search for wisdom and understanding. You will be used in bringing in a harvest of souls!
REFUGE: Protection or shelter, as from danger or hardship. A place providing protection or shelter, a source of help, relief, or comfort in times of trouble.
SANCTUARY: A sanctuary, in its original meaning, is a sacred place, a special place where God dwells. These places are safe places for those who are facing danger.
The motive and intent of our hearts must be to walk out our faith and be a laborer in the harvest; save the lost; and provide for those in need. As the church faces a number of
challenging days ahead…we are to be a place of safety. Individuals, homes, families, churches, ministries, houses of prayer and regions can be a place of refuge.
Any preparation whether in the spiritual or physical realm is for those who God has given as a sphere of influence. In desperate times people look for hope and we carry the answer. We must begin in the prayer closet and realize that God’s hand is with us.
“But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.” (Matthew 6:6)
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust. Surely, He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.” (Psalm 91: 1 -4)
