As we close out this old year and move into the new year we must take a close look at John 15. We have the Vine dresser who represents the Father and cultivates his plants; the True Vine who represents Jesus and the fruit’s vital life source; and the branches who represent the disciples and who determine the result of fruit. Jesus taught that those who do not abide in Him are like the branch that has been cut off. It withers and dies, but individuals who abide in Jesus Christ produce righteous works that glorify God. Remember, JESUS was the source of life and spiritual fruitage in the church, only through him could the “branches “, the people of the church , flourish.

We have been in a year of pruning. It is not a comfortable process but is needed for each of us. This biblical principle – this act of pruning– is absolutely necessary for producing an abundant harvest in the vineyard. The dead wood must be cut away in due season and the good branches lovingly cut back to spur fresh growth. Pruning is not a punishment for a Christian; it is a reward. God is the vine dresser who prunes the life of everyone who abides in Christ and bears the fruit of Christ. Spiritual pruning enhances spiritual growth by removing whatever inhibits spiritual growth. God prunes us with extreme love. He carefully trims away anything that hinders growth so that we can receive full, spiritual nourishment.

Face this new year with great expectations. God is faithful and He will complete that work in us through His abundance of GRACE! Declare life into those areas which seem dead. We have been grafted into the true VINE. ..and we must be thankful.

If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. (John 15: 1-8)
