TONIGHT’S CALL – SYLVIA WILLIAMS INTERVIEW WITH FORMER OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST…OVERCOMING ADVERSITY!

On last night’s call Corey had shared how the body of Christ goes through seasons of increased assaults upon us physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. We are in such a time as this. As we face various trials, challenges, and ADVERSITY in our lives, we have been given overcoming grace and authority. It is not to say that some of us will be brought to a near breaking point. As a people of faith never receive a negative thing until it happens. We must continue to focus on the CROSS, God’s Word, and Jesus Christ who makes intercession for us as the solution when facing any adversity. What is adversity?

ADVERSITY: a state or instance of serious or continued difficulty or misfortune.

Is there a positive aspect to adversity? Adversity also allows us the very important character trait of resilience; through resilience, one is able to be bolder and more levelheaded, one’s character is strengthened and one is able to move on from very painful circumstances as Christ is at our side. Coping with any adversity means that you effectively deal with a very difficult situation; it means you either work through, or work around problems in a way that keeps your life in balance. Adversity offers valuable insights as we make peace with the situation. As hard as it may be, embrace adversity as a chance for opportunity and refuse to give up. When experiencing adversity, we become more compassionate and sensitive to those around us. Humility is developed many times when facing hardships. Adversity can force us to come face-to-face with who we are.

Faith is the key to unlock that door of freedom from adversity. In such times live the gospel and turn to the Lord to help us deal with adversity. Look at other people’s interests ahead of your own and care for those in need. Who do we know who needs our prayers and our friendship who are going through similar situations? Invite them to receive the Gospel. Look at any personal adversity that you have gone through as an opportunity to help others. When applying this principle of setting other people free, it will in turn set you free.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ (Isaiah 41:10)
