TONIGHT’S CALL – A SPECIAL PRESENTATION ON NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER/MICHIGAN CAPITOL HOUSE OF PRAYER!

We are in a wonderful season this Passover. The reality of what Christ did for us must settle into our hearts. The suffering he endured in the Garden of Gethsemane must be heartfelt as he was carrying and taking away the sins of the world going to the CROSS. The meaning of Gethsemane is “Olive Press” a place or occasion of great mental, spiritual, and physical suffering. It is here where Jesus experiences the full range of human emotions, and he shares them with his disciples in a fully human way. He was squeezed where symbolically that oil from the olive press is available to us today. Pray for oil for your spiritual lamps and be a wise virgin of Matthew 25.

It is here in the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus allowed himself to be arrested and demanded that the violence stop. The disciples were so afraid and shocked at what had happened that they all ran away. The events at the Garden of Gethsemane offer support and comfort to Christians today when they are going through difficult times in their lives. A lesson to be learned as well is the importance of prayer and how weak we are when the reality of troubled times is upon us. Many times, the human spirit can become apathetic with little understanding of the spiritual atmosphere that surrounds them. We must not allow weariness to overtake us.

As Jesus Christ challenged his disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane to watch and pray we face the same challenge today. Heaven must be continually bombarded with appeals of prayer to fill the bowls, so they spill onto the earth. It will take commitment that is fueled by the seriousness of the times we are in. The praying church has been awakened for most part. Throughout history there have been calls for day and night 24/7/365 prayer.

There are common denominators we easily discover when we review historical great awakenings. Some of these principles that have brought Divine intervention into human affairs are persistent prayer by a remnant few; desperate times; faith filled declarations of God’s word; hearing the voice of God followed by obedience; passion for unsaved souls; an attitude of never giving up; and being still as well as waiting on God to move. What Christ endured in the Garden through His prayer and suffering birthed a seed planted in faithful remnants who had risen throughout history. Can we be added to that historical record that shifted history?

Could you not watch with Me one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, your will be done.” And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy.So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.Then He came to His disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand.” (Matthew 26: 36-46)

“Awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light. walk in Wisdom See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5: 14-16)
