Tonight’s Call – MARK GURLEY THE LAW OF FAITH!

What does faith mean according to the Bible? The closest that the Bible comes to offering an exact definition is Hebrews 11:1. “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Another way of saying this is to bring the Kingdom of God into your imagination and it will become a reality. Remember, fiery darts will always come at us trying to destroy the simplicity of what faith can bring. There are several truths about faith from the Scriptures. We must have faith in Him; we must believe that He exists; and we must believe that He will answer us when we try hard to know Him or to get help from Him.

There is much to hope for these days. We each have gone through many challenges, trials, and troubles. May we recognize this Christmas season that Jesus Christ sits at the right hand of the Father and is making intercession for us (Romans 8:34). Think of a Divine hand coming down from heaven and grabbing your human hand. This connection assures us through our faith our prayers will be answered. A purpose of faith is to believe in oneself and allow God to come into your life and take control. Having faith is having trust. You must trust with your entire being that God has your back that He will help you and take care of you. He knows what is best, but to truly embrace what He has planned for you, you must fully trust. Our trust is not foolish, for God is both faithful and good.

SEVEN WAYS TO DEVELOP FAITH IN YOUR LIFE!

1. Receive Jesus as the Beginning of our Faith through Salvation in Him.

2. Make the Word of God our Final Authority.

3. Continually Feed on the Word

4. Meditate on the Word.

5. Act on the Word.

6. Pray in the Spirit.

7. Continually Praise and Worship Him.

We must ingrain within ourselves the power of faith. It is what gives a believer confidence in God’s presence to access what belongs to Him. Such faith is undeniable and can purchase anything from God without hesitation. However, faith cannot function alone, it must have its own work because faith without works is in vain. Increasing our faith requires trusting the Lord with our whole souls and striving to act as He would in all circumstances. Jesus Christ is the vine, and we are the branches (John 15) and we draw from him directly the capacity to move mountains. We are being tested today but be persistent and keep on asking as well as seeking. We serve a God who hears!

“Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God.” (Romans 10:17)

“And all things, whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive.” (Matthew 21:22)

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for He that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)

When we think about God, it is easy to fixate on His greatness. After all, He is the Almighty Creator of the universe. He is a sovereign sustainer of all things. He is the righteous judge of the living and the dead. Such majestic attributes of power, holiness, and justice rightly fill us with reverential fear and all. But if we see God only in these ways, we may come to feel distant from Him and significant to Him. God is surely all these great things, but He is also a great listener. We need that perspective too– that God hears us when we cry out to him, and that He cares personally and deeply for each of His children.

Like that faithful friend who puts all else aside when we show up with the need, God takes us by the hand, locks His gaze on us, and gives us His undivided attention. Saul 17:6 assures us God is an active listener. But He doesn’t merely hear our words; He is also moved by the unvoiced groanings of our hearts (Romans 8:26. Is there a better picture of God’s goodness and gracious character? Imagine you are in your car, or alone in the kitchen, mulling over a frustrating situation or an unexpected disappointment– you are headed into a hard meeting or trying to wrap your mind around some shocking news. What does the Bible say? You can talk to the one true God. More than that, through faith in Christ, you can enter the very throne room of heaven. Better than that, you can trust that in those confusing, tense, or scary moments, God will absolutely be attentive to you (Ephesians 3:12; Hebrews 10:19).

How encouraging to know that in Christ, God is completely empathetic to our human struggles (Hebrews 4:14-16). Because He knows us intimately (Psalm 139:1), because He listens attentively to us, and because He loves us perfectly, we can rest assured that He will always meet our needs (Philippians 4:19). Even when no one else seems to be paying attention, you can trust that God hears the cries of your heart.

QUESTION: how does it change your attitude about prayer to realize that your prayers always capture the full attention of God Almighty?

It will be a time to be infused with power and authority from Jesus Christ. We must have something more than human grit and political strategies.
