Day 791 Jan 4 2023

Tonight’s Call –  SIX DEADLY D’S…THE PATHWAY OF SELF DEFEAT!

None of us are immune to life’s challenges. Look at the life of Christ and the 12 apostles. We are not different as we are emotional creatures and easily impacted by her surroundings or environment. How do we handle the various setbacks, attacks, and issues that life presents? God always makes a way of escape but understanding the process and how the enemy of our souls tries to take us out our calling and destiny must be understood. Satan is out to seek, devour and destroy and we must not be ignorant of his devices.

1) Disappointment – Defeat or failure of expectation, hope, wish, desire, or intention; miscarriage of design or plan.

This says, “If God was what I thought He was, this wouldn’t be happening to me.”  There is a tendency to look at experiences and be disappointed.  NO ONE WHO KNOWS CHRIST SHOULD BE DISAPPOINTED ABOUT ANYTHING (1 Thess. 5:18, I Cor. 13:4-8).  You must refuse disappointment by the peace that passes all understanding (Col.3:12-21).  Yes, this can be difficult to do!!!

2)  Discouragement – Being disheartened and deprived of confidence, courage, and hope.  Act of deterring or dissuading from an undertaking. The feeling of giving up enters the mind.

This says, “I tried it once and it didn’t work so why bother trying again.  I thought I knew God and felt his leading and nothing happened so what’s the use.”  But we must trust in God and never give up (Psa. 118:5-8, I Peter 5: 6-7)

3)  Disillusionment – Where high expectations were perceived and imagined and have not come to pass.

This says, “I thought I saw happiness in this relationship, but it was only a mirage.” (Isa. 41:10, Prov. 19:21, 27:1, James 3:13-14, Phil. 3:3, 11Cor.4:15-17, Jer.17:5-7, Rom.15:13, 8:24-25).  “I thought my life was going to go this way and it hasn’t!”

4)  Depression – A sinking of the spirit of man; dejection, want of courage, withdrawing inwardly, low state of strength in body & mind.  A heavy sadness with heavy frustration.

This says “I don’t know what to do. I can’t think straight and I’m so frustrated.  Just leave me alone!” This is where the mind goes round and round in incoherent thinking. (Isa.40:13, Psa. 23, Eph. 3:16; Psa. 30:10-11, Psa. 42)

5)  Disintegration of Morality – Separation or breakdown of our moral duties and ethics towardfriends; family a mate and/or children.

This says, “I hate my life and I must get out; and nobody can stop me!” All good intentions and plans seem to disappear. (Jer.18:12, Rom.1:28-32, Psa. 13:6, Acts 17:30, 4:12, I John 1:9, I Tim.2:3-5)

NOTE:  This is the time where many will resort to cutting; eating disorders; use of drugs [prescription or illegal]; alcohol abuse; pornography; severe withdrawal and other addictions.

6)  Defeat – To be vanquished, overthrown, or destroyed.

Friendships, marriages, families and relationships are broken.   The effects are so damaging that the people involved can never be healed apart from Jesus Christ.  Some may temporarily come out but drift back in!  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE DEFEATED!  GOD LOVES YOU!!!

NOTE:  AT TIMES SUICIDE APPEARS TO BE THE ONLY SOLUTION – AND SOME MAKE THAT FATAL MISTAKE!!!

May we utilize this information to help pull people out of the quicksand many are in at this time. This is our responsibility to set people free…and even ourselves. Stay the course and hold the line…in Jesus’ name!

“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man, but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13)

“I can do all things through Christ who Strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)

“Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you, He will never permit the righteous to be moved.” (Psalm 55:22)

NAMES OF GOD SERIES – CHRISTOPHER HUDSON SHUB NEPHESH…RENEWER OF LIFE!

If you’ve had a loved one died, you know the pain of grief, and you’ve also brushed up against the great mystery of life. What is this material essence or spirit that animates us? Where did it come from? And where does it go when we are gone? The Bible tells us. God, in creating humanity, did much more than bring together assorted body parts, tissues, and organs. He did do that, but Genesis 2:7 says that He took that lifeless creature and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. From the opening pages of Scripture, we see that God is the source and giver of life.

And God doesn’t just animate us physically; He also desires to see us come alive spiritually. He wants to renew our lives, to give us eternal life– that is, in life that consists of knowing Him through Jesus Christ (see John 17:3). Jesus insisted He came to offer His followers life to the full (John 10:10) the idea should evoke imagery of a life impossibly abundant, incredibly rich, and sloshing over with blessing regardless of the ups and downs of life. This is not to say that a life in God or a life with God is easy and free of trouble– far from it. We live in a broken world full of broken people. We face hardships and endure suffering. Many of the Psalms suggest this. One day God will renew everything, but in the meantime, we will experience trouble and tears. And so, we must make the choice to live in God’s presence and to rely on His promises.

The New Testament expands on this idea. We serve a God–more importantly, we are loved by a Savior–who not only sustains our lives but, as the apostle Paul asserted, is our life (Colossians 3:4). This is the life of faith. We cling to Christ as if He were our oxygen–our invisible but indispensable source of life. Seeing Christ as our life is recognizing our need for Him every moment and depending on Him at every turn. And it is not a life of fear filled with desperation but a life of loving devotion. This focus on Jesus won’t make our problems disappear but will put them in perspective. Our God is the source and sustainer of life–not just a get by in life, but the life we really want. The renewed life God offers us is–in quantity and quality–beyond our wildest dreams.

QUESTION: To what extent is a statement God is my life true of you?

“He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and it was better to you than seven sons, has given him birth.” (Ruth 4:15)
