Tonight’s Call – COREY SHANKLETON…LEGISLATIVE UPDATES!
Authorities are instituted by God for the good of everyone to restrain evil. The Bible teaches that governments are ordained by God to punish the wrongdoer and to commend those who do right (Romans 13 3-4; 1 Peter 2:14). When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule the people mourn. Corruption is always expressed in the mind, the conscience and in character. The New Testament identifies that true righteousness and holiness of God can give solutions to corruption. We must speak up and be a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. We must stand up for the rights of the destitute and defend the rights of the poor and needy. We are in a position now where we must speak up for the whole population. When the church shirks their responsibility, everybody suffers. We have repeatedly exposed the inactivity of the church for standing for truth and righteousness in the political arena. A silent church is the very reason why we are experiencing the threat to destroy America.
A king or any government who rightly applies justice contributes to his kingdom’s stability and peace. However, greedy leaders who accept bribes and other forms of corruption make the nation unstable. A nation ruled by selfish, greedy people is prone to collapse. No man or nation should be corrupt. God attempts to persuade the wicked to turn away from their evil ways. Our goal is to have good governments that will stop conforming to worldliness but be transformed in their hearts to a Biblical worldview. As we see, this is not the case today as even those who claim to be Christians have little understanding of what a Biblical worldview is. If the church fails in this endeavor, how can we expect politicians to bring forth legislation that will protect our religious freedoms?
Jesus the Savior is the answer to the problem of evil. He came to seek and to save that which was lost. He was all good and omnipotent, He was subject to pain, suffering and evil of others. This is the very reason we need a Great Awakening in our nation, and we are seeing evidence of revival in our nation and the world. Only righteousness can exalt a nation (Proverbs 14:34). We must continue to proactively reach out to those in authority such as our legislators and pray for conviction of conscience to restore God in the public arena. We must continue to cast our cares and concerns upon the Lord because He does care for us (1 Peter 5:7). We will all face trials and difficulties in this life. Jesus never promised us an easy life, He promised the opposite. But for those who trust God those difficulties will not shake us, they will not destroy us. This is what the Bible promises repeatedly.

“Casting all of your cares upon Him; for He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)

Can you believe King Louis XIV occupied the French throne for 72 years? That’s a longer reign than all about 10 rulers in world history. Yet it’s only a blip in time compared to the King who reigns eternally. Moses had the privilege of reminding the Hebrew people about their God and King, Yahweh. The children of Israel who came under Moses’ leadership had painful memories of 400 years of servitude to a series of Egyptian rulers. Each of those pharaohs held power, but each one was temporary and terminal. Seeing the waves of the Red Sea crash over the Egyptian army, Moses knew that sad chapter of Israel’s history was over. Ahead of them was a new life with the eternal God (Deuteronomy 33:27) as their King, who would reign over them forever and ever (Exodus 15:18). Centuries later when the people of Israel balked and God being their King and clamored for an earthly ruler so they could be like all the other nations (1 Samuel 8), they began to watch their own kings come and go. They learned– often through pain and heartache– that no earthly ruler can provide long-term security or prosperity.
Today we live in a world where corrupt leaders are common and even our best leaders are imperfect and short term. We need to be reminded that God is the King of Kings. Because He’s good, His reign is to. Because He is wise, He won’t make mistakes. Because He is sovereign, we can trust that events are never beyond His control. And because He is a terminal, we don’t have to fear Him handing over power to some other leader who might not be so wise or good. The maternal King of Kings will one day rule in a very public, physical, literal, and universal way. Meanwhile, we can install Yahweh, the eternal God and King, as the permanent spiritual ruler of our lives. A Christian’s true citizenship is in heaven; he or she serves the King whose kingdom never ends.
QUESTION: Is it difficult for you to think of God as an eternal King? Why or why not?

In 2004, Chuck Pierce and Dutch Sheets came to Michigan and released the word that Michigan is The Voice to the nation. What does that mean? It means that we are forerunners. John the Baptist was the VOICE! We are a corporate John the Baptist who must cry in the middle of the wilderness, preparing the Way of the Lord. It means that we must speak out and model to the nation what God is about to do. Prepare the Way! We are entering the time of greatest revival and awakening man has experienced.
The winds have started to blow over Michigan and they are about to hit hurricane force. Several prophets have recently released words that this is Detroit and Michigan’s time. Gina Gholston released a powerful prophetic word over Michigan in October2022. Many people thought it was related to the election. However, it’s a much bigger word than that. I believe that we have entered our Kairos opportune moment where we must activate the words. (You can read Gina’s word here)
Because of what I’ve been sensing I called Ed Watts to get his take. Two weeks ago we counseled together over Michigan and both agreed that we must now begin to stir up the prophetic words over Michigan, call them into being. In other words, we must gather the state and corporately release our voice, stirring up what God is saying. We set February 24, 7 PM as the night we would gather.
I started calling leaders in different areas of the state, including the Upper Peninsula. In two days at least 10 agreed to come and speak in Michigan. I knew there must be a cross-section of Michigan leaders including Black, White, Hispanic, First Nations, City, Rural, Male, Female and Multigenerational. All of them are leaders of churches or hubs, big churches, small churches. Some of those who have said I’m coming are: Apostles/Prophets Renee Growchowski, Jonathan Russo, Ed Watts, Keith Hudson, Joe Wenturine, Victor Torres, Asia Mchaney, Matt Jones, Bishop Andrew Merritt—father to Detroit, and several more. Chuck Pierce will be releasing a word to Michigan via video.
Ed Watts and I are hosting this one night gathering in Ann Arbor, MI, February 24, 2023, at Shekinah Christian Church, 4600 Scio Church Rd, 48103. Join us to corporately worship and release the Voice. This is a free event. However, do register so we know how many people are coming and are prepared. Gather everyone you can, come and let’s shake the heavens with our worship and our voice!

Day of equipping for reformers in Michigan. Pastor Peter Dresser is hosting Pastor Rob McCoy from California. He is the pastor of God Speak in California. His church came into the spotlight when it refused to close for Covid 19 restrictions and mandates imposed by the California government. He began spearheading a movement to oppose all government overreach which denies religious freedoms. Recently, they went after the progressive liberalized voting laws in California. They decided to go after them and use them for their own benefit, which would be the church. He is coming to Michigan to show us how to do that very thing here! – Click Here

PRAYER IN THE STATE CAPITOL MARCH 9TH 12 NOON – 2 PM – ROOM 426
The second Thursday of each month we would be praying inside the state capitol building in Lansing. The Michigan House of Prayer will be leading in room 426. The meeting is from 12 Noon-2 PM. We will be setting up at 11:30 AM. We will be praying for righteousness to return to our state. Praying for any sick legislators, staff members, or personnel will also be part of our efforts. Of course, any crisis situations that will have risen on a state or national level will be covered. We will be praying over legislators to make wise and godly decisions. Praise and worship will be part of the format of our gatherings. We all know that God inhabits our praises! This is a sacrifice of our time and resources, but Michigan hangs in the balance! We are believing for signs, miracles, and wonders to break out. This type of outbreak will get our legislators attention in the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ will go forth.
