Tonight’s Call – WE HAVE THE AUTHORITY!
Authority is a delegated power given by one who has the power to give it. We understand the authority given to law enforcement by the state government. We understand the authority given to our military based on our Constitution. There is a higher power that rules over the kingdoms of the earth and we as Christians recognize the God who rules and reigns. Many believers in Jesus Christ have fallen short of the understanding of the authority delegated to us when we became born-again in Jesus’ name through repentance. God has endowed us with so many promises where his adopted sons and daughters have freely given. We all go through a growth process of being a babe in Christ onto being young and then mature. Some settle into being a babe and never go on to maturity.
Understanding what we have been given is so critical because the Lord is working hand in hand with us to carry out His will. The authority over the devil does not only belong to a few chosen people to whom God has given special power. It belongs to all the children of God when we are born again, we receive this authority. As we are made new creatures in Christ Jesus, we inherit the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and we can use it in prayer against the enemy. Authority belongs to us whether we realize it or not. But having knowledge on authority isn’t enough. The truth of authority must be embedded in our hearts and when acted upon it will bring great results. Most Christians have gone through life and never find out what belongs to them.
Authority and prayer are vitally connected just as faith and expectancy. The Word says Christ is the head of the body and we are his parts… Whether a leg, arm, foot, or toe. Each has a function for the body to fully operate. Without the head none of the body can work. Jesus Christ the head has delegated authority to all believers no matter what part of the body you are. We are in a season of time when this delegated authority is much needed. We all have been given prayer assignments and have made appeals to heaven in so many areas. Many times, prayers are not answered because we have no understanding of the authority we carry. We can have a head faith of what authority is but it has not settled in our hearts in order to activate that faith to expect what we have prayed for.
The devil must be resisted by the authority we carry in Christ Jesus! The church must get the revelation that we are the body of Christ, who will rise up and do the works of Christ. Until now we have limited ourselves. When we realize that the authority that belongs to Christ also belongs to individual members of the body of Christ and is available to us, our lives will be revolutionized. Never forget the moment of time we are in is a shifting of history to preserve a future for our children and grandchildren. We must gain a deeper understanding of the authority we carry in Christ!
“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19)
NOTE: In the King James Version the word power is used twice in this verse. But two different words are found in the original Greek. What Jesus actually said was, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power the enemy. We have authority over them!
“He that believes on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” (John 14:12-14)
