Tonight’s Call – FAITH AND AGREEMENT!
This message was so good below I could not resist posting it!!!
“For the weapons of our warfare are not [a]carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.” (2 Corinthians 10:4-6)
FROM…MICHIANA PRAYER GROUP IN NILES, M…THOUGHTSI – Thoughts are difficult to control. Thoughts about relationships, money, politics, climate change, job security, the economy, and dozens of other real concerns of daily existence. Thoughts can affect physical health, mental health, emotions, sleep, relationships, work and every aspect of life–or death. But how can anyone control what pops into their head? Thoughts come—good and bad. Often negative thoughts lead relentlessly into anxiety, depression, insomnia and worse. Can we control thoughts and minds? Thoughts must be controlled, but even the idea of controlling thoughts is troubling to many people because terms like “thought police”, “thought control” and “censorship” are bandied about in the news and public forums. But ‘thought control’ isn’t new and it is part of a Godly life.
The important part of the control is ‘who’ is doing it. The Bible tells us clearly that we will be held responsible for our thought life and the words and actions produced by our thoughts. It is the responsibility of each one of us to control our own thoughts because those thoughts become words and actions. Jesus indicated thoughts were every bit as detrimental as actions, and destructive actions start with thoughts. We are held accountable because we individually are expected to police and control our own thoughts.
Abraham is called the ‘father of faith’ for one reason: he controlled his thoughts. He “considered not” the facts of his situation, focusing instead on the faithfulness of the One who promised. We have so much more to consider in Jesus, so many more promises from God, so much more guidance on what to consider and how! Paul calls ‘believers’ children of Abraham because they believe; and as children of Abraham, we are heirs of his promise. Believing, however, requires disciplined thinking. It mandates that we train our minds and direct our thoughts to “consider not” what we see and hear or anything else that contradicts the word of God.
This is righteousness. Refusing to believe what others call logic, common sense and reason, choosing to live by faith in God’s word, is what God requires of His children. It is a choice we make daily, even hourly. We cannot please God or accept His righteousness without choosing to silence some thoughts and magnify other thoughts that agree with God’s promises and His declared word. The believer’s faith begins with Jesus as the Messiah, but it doesn’t start and stop with heaven-when-you-die. There is an entire lifetime of faith to be expressed on earth: “live by faith” doesn’t start when we die—it shows up every moment we still breathe oxygen. True faith alters actions. True righteousness is faith in motion.
Just like the mighty oak tree starts with a small acorn, mountain-moving faith begins with a small “consider not” the mountain replaced with consider Jesus, consider the One who promised, consider the price already paid-in-full, consider the absolute, unchanging, unshakable word of the Father who so loved a hopeless world that He Himself gave the ransom demanded. Thoughts are seeds and will produce a crop after their own kind, whether good or bad. Sow a thought, reap and action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a destiny.
Abraham ‘considered not’ to get the super-natural, physiological miracle God promised. That is a necessary thought policing for any physical healing. But it is the same prerequisite for any of God’s promises, whether a salvation, physical healing, or a material blessing. The worldly mind-set must be set aside, the internal and external voices that say “now be realistic” must be discarded and the word-producing thoughts must be kept in check. This is a discipline that must be vigilantly practiced because the tests will come unannounced, and controlled thoughts might very well be the difference between life and death or your super-natural miracle. When the negative report (medical diagnosis, financial forecast etc.) is given, will you have policed your thought life and “consider not” or will you give in to fear and ‘common sense’ and agree with the negative report? When two agree on earth, God says it is established in heaven—be careful what and who you agree with!
God doesn’t ask us to do the impossible—He has paid for everything He ordered. In Jesus, believers are well-equipped to have perfect ‘mind control’ over their own thoughts. Believers have the power and authority to successfully combat and overcome anything the devil throws at them,13 but it begins by training our minds and policing our thoughts to “consider not”.

“For, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 2:16)
