Tonight’s Call – THE BODY – THE SUITABLE ADMINISTRATION!
The spiritual gift of administration is a divine ability God gives to some to steer the body toward the accomplishment of God-given goals and directives by planning, organizing, and supervising others. He is raising up a modern-day Ecclesia who will fully function in their God given gifts and talents. 1 Corinthians 12:28 and Romans 12:8 both include the gift of administration in their lists of spiritual gifts. People with this gift are able to really see the details clearly. They are good problem solvers, and they keep their eyes on achieving the goals in front of them. They have an ability to organize information, money, people, and more. An administrator has a gift that preserves order in the body of Christ. He/she must exercise the gift to rule the church as a leader, not as a tyrant. The gift can and should be developed, as should the administrator’s growth as a Christian. More than ever, we need this gift today as we are in a war season.
Another aspect is God has given this gift in various degrees. While God has made some leaders in the church, He has chosen others to be leaders of leaders. These are individuals which God has placed in positions of administration or authority over other Christian leaders. Here is where we must be very careful. God, and only God, is the one who designates believers in the capacity of leadership. He also appoints those who have the greater ability to lead. Consequently, we must always make certain that those who are in a leadership capacity in the church are there because of the calling and placement of God – not because of the selfish desires of some human being.
CAUTIONS!
There can be a tendency with the spiritual gift of administration to get so involved in how things should be done to forget about the people who are doing things. This insensitivity can lead to bullying or becoming closed minded. Also, people with this gift can sometimes take on way too much themselves, so God actually gets pushed out of the picture. It’s important for people with this gift to pray and read their Bibles regularly, as people with this gift are prone to focusing on the tasks at hand rather than meeting their own spiritual needs.
Unfortunately, there are some individuals who have placed themselves, or have been placed, in a position of leadership in the church who do not have the God-given gift. Once this becomes evident the person should step down from their leadership capacity. Because the decisions of a Christian leader affect many others, this is one gift that should only be exercised by those who have the spiritual gift.
Is the Gift of Administration My Spiritual Gift?
Ask yourself the following questions. If you answer “yes” to many of them, then you may have the spiritual gift of administration:
When there is no clear leader, do you often find people turning to you to make decisions?
When you see poor organization does it drive you crazy?
Do you get excited about working on projects?
Does getting people organized and keeping things moving smoothly come naturally to you?
Do you tend to be a bit of a Type A perfectionist?
We are strategically being put into place to face the battle of the ages. We must step into our calling and destiny and not be fearful or shrink back. May the Lord stir the gifts in all of us!
“And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues.” (1 Corinthians 12:28)
“Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching.” (1 Timothy 5:17)
