This is told about the church of Ephesus.
Their hard work and refusal to quit was known.
They didn’t tolerate evil apostolic imposters.
They had persistence and courage, endurance.
BUT – they walked away from their first love. How did that happen? What was going on? What problems had turned them away? Was daily living blinding their focus? Was their passion for the LORD under a cloud? Had they succumbed to “culturitis?” Were they infected by the ills and evils in culture around them? Did they think 1 hour on Sunday was sufficient to feed their spiritual appetite? Did hospitality meet the needs of their family, friends and neighbors? Were businesses run with honesty and integrity. To what standards did their city council adhere? Was their speech always gracious?
And on and on. Think about your lifestyle. Does your check book and calendar show fervency for CHRIST? Are you fanning the flame of righteousness, obedience and holiness in your life? First love –– have you developed a hunger and thirst for the LORD? What “idols” invade the LORD’s space? Does repentance have entrance in your life? You say you already have repented. That’s enough. Just what is your first love?
Check out Matthew 6:33 or 22: 37-40. Ephesians 5:1-2 I know there is a treasure to be found in Scripture– your turn to work at it.Merciful, loving heavenly Father, show me how to love you first. What does that mean for me? How do I start to change my attitude? Favor me with a hunger and thirst after you! Help me rearrange my schedule putting you first. I need you desperately. My quiet time with you has fallen by the wayside.
And, and, and. You hear the cries of your people. I am eager to meet with you. Thank You for Your Love and grace in time of need. In the Name of JESUS, the name above all names. Amen
