ADVANCING GOD’ KINGDOM OR OUR OWN

We know the scriptures so well regarding a “house divided cannot stand” (Matthew 12:25); or the importance of unity in the body of Christ (John 17, Psalm 133).  The choice is always serving God and others as opposed to ourselves.  I remembered a movie I watched called Brave Heart with Mel Gibson. There was a scene where William Wallace walked out on the feuding clans as they each wanted control, power and authority. They were in a hard long struggle with an evil King Longshanks from England.  Wallace (Gibson) walked out as he stated there was an enemy that was consuming their land and he was frustrated over the infighting regarding control.  He said,  “we have an enemy to fight and we need unity and walked out to fight the battle.”  Is there something similar that we see in the body of Christ today? The evil King today are the spiritual enemies that have invaded America. The feuding clans are individuals, churches and ministries.

Rick Joyner taught me to help others in their vision and then your dreams (vision) would be accomplished.  I have tried to follow his advice with Transformation MI, TheCall, MICHOP, and the Oak Initiative.  I have found helping others actually advances the Kingdom of God.  Lou Engle recently said that every dream given by God is followed by nightmares (personality struggles and tests).  These are given to develop character so we can fulfill the vision or dream God has implanted in us.  Why am I saying all of this?

As TheCall Detroit on 11.11.11 approaches churches, young and old, and ministries must learn to co-labor together and not try to take control or use TheCall to advance their own ministry or cause.

What is God’s purpose in this gathering?  It is to call a solemn assembly (Joel 1 and 2) for a nation that is in crisis.  Can we allow Christ to be the head of His church at this time?  Can we lay down all of our own personal agendas and ministries to advance the Kingdom of God in prayer and fasting?  Isn’t that the bigger picture here?

This will be the challenge as we move towards this historic moment on 11.11.11.  Michigan can be a model to the nation.  We need every piece of the puzzle to fall into place to see the transformation of a nation.  Detroit and Michigan is being given an opportunity.  Will you be part and co-labor in unity with us?  Are we able to lay down personal agendas and look on other people’s interest ahead of our own – so the Kingdom of God can be advanced?

“Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” (Philippians 2:1-4)

Let’s not fall into a trap of using others to promote our own personal agendas.  I am convinced if we can humble ourselves and take the back seat God will promote what He has called you to do at the right time – His time.
