God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. James 4:6b
In James chapter 4 vs the Lord’s brother begins sharing with us on how we can drift from the true gospel and begin to give in to the desires that war in our flesh, desires which war against our soul for dominion in our lives.Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians to “bring those thoughts into captivity” and submit ourselves to the Living God.
This 40 day fast is for consecration of our heart and mind to the Living God for His purpose. The only thing that stands in our way is flesh and it’s desires that war against us. Great power is on the other side for those who bind their will to the Father. Jesus said, I come to do the will of the Father and not my own John 6 and He struggled against those desires in the garden of Gethsemane. John 18
Thank you Jesus for submitting your will to the Father and becoming a sacrifice so we could be redeemed!
We confess as sin our pride and arrogance; we confess that we operate in an independent spirit saying we have no need of you. We even arrogantly boost about it and post such on our billboards.
Lord, we acknowledge our own need, the need of our state and the need of our nation before you.
We have thought of ourselves more highly than we ought. We humbly ask you to forgive us and for more grace to walk before you. We ask also for more grace and humility for the leaders of our state and nation. We need you Almighty God! Amen
