The events and the shakings coming our way will offer a greater opportunity to witness for Christ and take ground for the Kingdom than any other time in history. We need to be men and women who understand the times, because when the world’s institutions, systems and governments fail, people are going to look to what Christian business leaders, community leaders and the Church have to offer and we must have better options available than the world. God has the solutions to every issue we face; He puts our names on them and assigns them to us to carry out for him on the earth, however, we often fail to do so.
We can no longer let fear of the world keep us from carrying out these divine assignments that will provide the hope and the help that the world needs when the status quo comes crashing down. Philippians 3:12 reads “…but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.” Each of us needs to identify what God created us to do, especially at such a time as this. Local Businesses have great influence on the communities around them as they provide jobs which cause the community to exist and allow it to prosper, without outside assistance. Many times, our assignments come in the form of a business calling, whether it is to start your own business or to get involved in a venture in which you can generate great profits to be used for the Kingdom. Either way, you must be informed, equipped, and spiritually led, and you must learn to protect your current and future assets in the coming times.
God is shaking the world economies and markets of our day. Nations who have exercised power over the last 500 years are being shaken to their core and, just like Babylon; some of them are going to fall. The Lord is not concerned with what a nation has done in its past. He is more concerned about what they are doing now. Just as He moved away from Judea and Israel as they moved away from Him, God is doing the same thing in the nations today and that includes America. God never moves away from his people however, and in the worst of times He will protect his followers and empower us to be the light in the darkness. This requires seeking him and being obedient and diligent to take action.
I cannot tell you what your individual calling and assignment is, but there are many ways you can physically and spiritually prepare for it. One way is to get your finances in order and correctly position yourself for the economic shakings that are coming and have already begun. As with any disaster, whether it’s a natural disaster, pandemic, or terrorist act, an economic disaster can be devastating, and even more so, because it directly affects a whole country rather than just a more localized geographic area. So, what can we do individually and as business owners to prepare for the economic shakings, and other potential shakings, coming our way? What Can Be Done?
1. First, go before the Lord and ask for wisdom, insight, and discernment to understand the current times and what is coming.
2. Second, become spiritually and naturally informed; know what the Bible says about the coming times and, as the Bible tells us, be men and women who “understand the times” in terms of what is physically going on around us in nature; you need both to effectively carry out God’s calling for you. Learn to recognize signs of impending events and get a basic understanding of economics and world markets; why stocks & bonds, currencies, commodities, interest rates and real estate go up and down. Look to appropriate sources like Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal for this information, not the major news outlets, and trust Christian economic and financial leaders and experts with proven track records, not just people in the world with titles, degrees, and agendas.
3. Apply the knowledge and understanding you gain from researching, to better discern the economic forces at work, then seek the Lord for His will for you in this area and take the necessary action steps to protect and best position yourself, your family, friends and business.
4. Take an inventory of ALL your business and/or personal assets; what are they, what is their current value, can you access them, if so how can you sell, liquidate and/or withdraw them and how long would it take?
5. Decide when to exit one business line or asset type and/or exchange it for another. Obtain sound advice from trusted sources.
6. If conventional systems such as grocery stores, retail stores, the stock & bond markets, banks, credit and debit cards and conventional currency become dysfunctional and/or inaccessible, what alternatives do you have? What types of commodities (gold, silver, alternative currencies, food or other necessities and assets of value) do you have at home as a means of exchange to trade or barter?
7. Be prepared with the basic necessities of life. Homeland Security and police agencies have begun putting out recommendations to the public about having adequate food and living supplies to last citizens and their families 30 days or more. Make sure your home and business are prepared for tough times and you will be able to help those around you and be a light for Christ.
8. If you are a businessman join or start a Christian business, group/organization; it only takes 2 or more to gather and pray together whether by phone or in person.
9. As the group grows you can set up events and bring in knowledgeable speakers to gain insights and help network Christian businesses and projects together. (Investigate the Fulton Street Revival, led by businessmen and merchants who prayed together in unity.
10. Form prayer teams at your company and pray over the business and all its clients, projects, and efforts. These actions are launching points to help you enter the calling God has for you regarding business and finances. While not everyone is called to start a business, we are all called to be good stewards of what the Lord has given us. We are called; not only to protect our assets, but to multiply them and God has given each of us specific gifts and talents to do this in whatever way he has designed for us individually. We must be men and women who understand the times and know how to position ourselves in accordance with God’s will and the calling on our lives.

POINT TO PONDER – INTERCESSORS FOR AMERICA: After-school Satan clubs are now popping up at some government schools as a form of challenge to traditional Christian clubs. A few months ago, the New York Post reported that some 30 schoolgirls in Colombia were hospitalized for fainting, anxiety, and symptoms of hysteria after playing with ouija boards.
Most recently, a church leader shared a warning on Facebook about a Ouija board game called “The Holy Spirit Board,” whose players are alleged to be able to communicate directly with Jesus. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I was angry, and I felt burdened with a greater resolve to intercede for our young people. We are at war right now. There is a war in the spiritual realm being waged against families, and especially against young people. We can see the fruit of that war in the natural.
We have much work to do, intercessors. Sun Tzu’s The Art of War offers this principle: “If you know your enemy and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles.” That is a great rule for intercessors: Know your enemy! Satan goes by many names, and we can learn much about his character from what the Bible calls him. In Matthew 4, he is the tempter. In John 8:44 he is the father of lies and a murderer from the outset. In Revelation 12:10 he is the accuser of the brethren. In Mark 3:22 he is called Beelzebub, the prince of demons.
In Matthew 13:19 he is the evil one who comes to steal the seed that has been planted. In 1 Peter 5:8, the apostle calls him our adversary. He is the “god of this world” (see 2 Corinthians 4:4) and “the prince of the power of the air” (see Ephesians 2:2). But two descriptions of Satan are particularly important just now: And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14).And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world — he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him (Revelation 12:9).
These two verses reveal his strategy and purpose: He masquerades as an angel of light to deceive. He is a great pretender, a counterfeit. He aims to get people to believe his lies so he can gain a stronghold in their souls, from which he can oppress them because he’s been given authority. His long-term goal is possession. He is not a creator or originator, and he hates those whom God loves.
