Jesus said that the truth would set us free. There is a great price to obtain freedom – and to keep it. Freedom is the core value of Christianity as Christ paid the price to set us free from hell and death. There are times where people will trade freedom for security when threatened. I call this compromise. We are seeing signs of this in our nation. In the church it ought not to be.
When persecution and tribulation comes upon us we are called to stand at all cost and not to shrink back. We are to take an offensive and not a defensive posture. The offensive must start with drawing near to God where lands of Goshen exist amidst the storms. Then move ahead in your assignment with an unwavering abandon.
We must stand for truth as this brings true freedom. Those who seek security and trade freedom for it when threatened will enter into bondage. We are in that very distinct crossroads of time in America where the church of Christ must stand for justice and righteousness issues. There is blood on the land and many have tried to wash their hands of it like Pilate when the people called for Barabbas. Biblical core values are being attacked and the pulpits must be aflame with truth or our freedoms will vanish.
The enemy will always attempt to strike fear in us as well as threaten us with forms of persecution. If you are in Christ blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake. The enemy has no legal right to take your freedom away if you stand for truth. This is an inward freedom where the peace of God will take you through the storms.
We are being tested as a church today. Do not trade your freedom in Christ for the security of the world when threatened.
