Marketplace/Business: Song of Solomon 2:15 “Catch for us the little foxes that spoil the vine”
Historically, the little foxes were too small to reach the fruit on the vines, so they chew at the trunk of the vine and kill the entire vine instead. The battle for business and marketplace pastors/leaders is won in the daily seemly small stand-offs. The times when we choose to uphold the principles of the kingdom of God vs being sucked into the black hole of the compromised culture that society throws at us every single day. Many of us are familiar with some of these lies. We must defend against them regularly: …gotta be number 1, bigger is better, it’s not that big of a deal, it is a cut throat world and this is what you have to do to survive.
If we are not careful we can become completely wearied, numbed out, and watered down, rendered ineffective for the sake of the kingdom. These little foxes can be gnawing away at our lifeline and we don’t realize it until major damage is done. It’s these little foxes, these seemingly small battles that end up destroying the entire vine. These foxes don’t go for the fruit, they go for the lifeline. The very base of the vine that provides the nourishment necessary for the vine to exist, bring forth fruit and produce. God is our lifeline. His presence and word strengthens trains, encourages, sharpens and builds us up. Often times these small foxes come to cut off our personal time with God, our lifeline, in hopes that our entire work will be destroyed and our fruit will rot.
Prayer: Father God, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, please encourage and strengthen the pastors/leaders in the various spheres of the market place. Grace us with supernatural strength, power, and ability to withstand the wiles of the enemy. Give us great vision for the things you desire to do through our businesses for the sake of the kingdom. Fill us with your love for our cities, so that the kingdom of God might be advanced. Give us hearts filled with divine generosity and a willingness to give back to our shared communities. Help them us to guard our time with you and to keep our relationship with you number 1 in our lives. Raise up those leaders who are called to help with the unity movements in the cities/regions. Connect them with those who are already working. Bring us together, have your way. Grace innovative solutions to come forth, collaborative genius to break out, and unprecedented unity to occur. In the name of the beloved we pray, Amen and amen!
